- A Retrospective Art
Exhibition of Phyllis Bosco - The Florida High Gallery will be having a
naming ceremony in April when they will name the Gallery "The Bosco
Mead Gallery at Southwood". The gallery is a beautiful professional
gallery located on Shumard Oaks Blvd. to the right of the FSUS gates in a
"storefront" run by the FSUS Art Dept. The gallery will be named
after Phyllis Bosco and Leon Mead, both former art teachers with careers
spanning over 50 years at "Florida High".
Students at Florida High have been studying the works of Phyllis Bosco (http://www.fsus.fsu.edu) and will have
works on display as well as works created by Phyllis Bosco. If you
have works and you are willing to loan them for the gallery exhibition,
please contact Debi Barrett-Hayes at 245-3744. The gallery has
approximately 8-10 works already committed for the show and we would love
to have more.
The exhibition is schedule to open during the week of April 27th (Phyllis'
Birthday) and the exact date of the naming ceremony is to be announced. We
would like to have the works before April to plan the layout of the
exhibit. We will also be raising funds for a memorial scholarship that has
been created at the FSU school. Please let us know if you want more information
or if you would like to participate in any manner. We all miss Phyllis
very much, one of our current art teachers (we have six) was actually a
student of Phyllis. She thought that was fantastic.
